The purpose of this invitation to tender is to purchase the following DNA sequencing and analysis instrumentation:
- A next generation DNA sequencer, and;
- A medium throughput DNA analyser.
The focus of our work program is resolving genetic diversity and variation among natural populations of multicellular aquatic organisms for population and individual genetic characterisation. To this end, we require a next generation DNA sequencer (NGS) for the rapid discovery of genetic variants in model and non-model organisms, whole mitochondrial DNA sequencing and restriction site-associated DNA (RAD) genotyping by sequencing applications. Given our focus on population-level analysis, we are additionally interested in systems capable of handling pooled individuals for genotyping-by-sequencing applications.
In addition we also require a medium throughput DNA analyser primarily for the screening of already developed suites of microsatellite markers as part of population genetic studies. Secondarily the analyser will be used for Sanger sequencing of large fragments and validation of NexGen detected de novo sequence variants.
